The Coalition for Urban Renewal Excellence (CURE) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing affordable housing in Fresno County. CURE constructs new homes and rehabilitates existing ones. Most CURE homes sell at, or below, market rates to make homes more affordable to Valley residents. Since its inception in 1999, CURE has built and sold over 85 homes to needy families. This is increasingly relevant while California has the least affordable housing in the nation according to the Northern California Community Loan Fund’s 2005 annual report. CURE also provides silent second funds to low and moderate income families. This further assists families to purchase a home and combats the poverty cycle in Fresno County.

CURE´s mission is to revitalize communities by providing decent, affordable housing. They originally only remodeled and rehabilitated homes, but as the market changed and real estate became more valuable, CURE discovered it could have more of an impact building new homes. With the population in Fresno County expected to double over the course of the next 30 years‚ the need for affordable housing will continue to be an issue. It’s critical for communities to find ways to provide for their housing needs, particularly for families with low or moderate incomes. CURE is ready to meet those needs.

During the past few years‚ CURE has received ongoing financial support from the building industry and many local businesses. CURE has positioned itself to be a major player providing affordable housing for years to come. CURE is a general contractor and only uses quality licensed subcontractors for its housing projects. These accomplishments distinguish CURE as an organization that is aggressive‚ compassionate‚ and ready to meet the housing needs in the greater Fresno area. The CURE team is lead by Executive Director Nathan Magsig, and has a loyal staff of Bookkeeper Marion Rodman, and Construction Superintendents Lee Henley and Don Henley.
